There will be a general membership meeting
and dinner with guest speaker Walter Prothero on 6-27-09 at the University Club in downtown
Louisville.
Cocktail hour begins at 6:00 with dinner
to be served at 7:00. The cost is $35- per
person with a choice of either Roasted Pork
Tenderloin, or Pecan Encrusted Chicken for

About Walter Prothero:
Walt Prothereo's quest for big game has taken
him throughout North America, Africa, Asia
and Europe. He's completed his Grand Slam
of North American Sheep and is closing in
on the World Slam of Wild Sheep and Africa's
Big Five. He has worked as a wildlife research
biologist for, among other, the U.S. Fish
& Wildlife Service, and as a forester,
wilderness guide, bartender, construction
worker, writer, and teacher.
He has spent a year sailing
solo around the
Caribbean and was shipwrecked
on an uninhabited
island, lived a decade
at a Gwitchin village
on the Yukon River, and
spend months in the
rain forest of Central
America hunting with
the Maya.
Prothero has advanced university
degrees
in writing, English, and
wildlife biology.
His hunting expeditions
have led to over
250 magazine articles,
mostly in Field &
Stream, Outdoor Life, and
Sports Afield,
and seven books-Safaris:
A Dangerous Affair
and Mule Deer Quest are
the latest. Safari:
A Most Dangerous Affair
received much critical
acclaim in the United States
and abroad.
He currently a contributing
editor at Sports
Afield.
Prothero lives with his
soul mate, Cheri
Flory in Eden, Utah, and
currently teaches
in the English and Zoology
Departments at
Weber State University
in Ogden, Utah.
Walt returns in late June
from China where
is leading a group of students
on an extended
field trip.
